Through personal accounts of individuals like Rufus Dawes and Gottlieb Torke\, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how these soldiers navigated the lasting physical\, psychological and social aftermath long after the firing stopped. \nABOUT THE SPEAKER: \nDr. James Marten is a Professor Emeritus of History at Marquette University\, having authored\, edited or co-edited two dozen books over his 36-year teaching career\, including Sing Not War and his latest work\, The Sixth Wisconsin and the Long Civil War. A recognized authority in the field\, he also served as President of the Society of Civil War Historians from 2013 to 2015.
