ABOUT THE EVENT:

Join us at the Wisconsin Club on January 8 to explore the man Abraham Lincoln was before he reached the White House. For 25 years, Lincoln was a formidable “prairie lawyer,” handling everything from high-profile railroad cases to intense murder trials. This presentation dives into the world of the Eighth Judicial Circuit, revealing how the networks Lincoln built and the legal skills he honed in Central Illinois served as his definitive “ladder to the presidency.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Guy Fraker is a seasoned attorney and historian who practiced law in Bloomington for over 50 years. He is the author of two definitive books on Lincoln’s legal career, including Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency, which highlights how Lincoln’s local networking fueled his political rise. Currently, Mr. Fraker serves as Chairman of the New Salem Committee of the Abraham Lincoln Association, where he works to preserve and revitalize the historic sites that shaped Lincoln’s early life.
