Join us on October 8, 2026, as historian and battlefield preservationist Joshua Lindamood examines "Black Thursday"—the catastrophic April 6, 1865 Battle of Sailor’s Creek that shattered Robert E. Lee's retreating army. Drawing on his expertise at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield State Park, Lindamood explores the fierce fighting and critical decisions that led Lee to despairingly ask, "Has the army dissolved?" Discover how this decisive defeat crippled Confederate forces and led directly to the surrender at Appomattox Court House just three days later.

About the CWRT
The Civil War Round Table of Milwaukee was established in 1947 and is the second oldest of the more than 300 Civil War Round Tables in the United States and abroad. Current membership is approximately 300. Membership in The Civil War Round Table of Milwaukee, Inc. has many perks. Membership automatically includes membership in the Iron Brigade Association. Monthly meetings, held from September through June, provide informative programs and promote fellowship. A monthly newsletter keeps members informed of group activities. The Civil War Round Table welcomes members from all walks of life and age group. The Round Table admits members of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all its rights, privileges, programs and activities.
Memberships & Dues
The Civil War Round Table of Milwaukee offers four membership levels. The fair dues afford our members a great many benefits during the Round Table season that runs September through May or June each year. Membership renewal dues are collected each September. Members can expect to receive their renewal form with the September General Orders.
